Libya Africa

Libya, also known as the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, is a country located in the north of Africa. With a population of around 6 million, around 2 million of these people live in the capital, Tripoli. The country borders the Mediterranean Sea in the north, Chad to the south, Tunisia and Algeria to the west and Eygpt to the east.

Libya is a muslim country, and as a result if you plan to travel across the country, you may want to take into account certain local customs, such as the ban on alcohol consumption and the dress-code, especially for women.

But this should not detract from what can be a unique experience, travelling around a country with more than a 1000km of coastline, the Sahara Desert and stunning beaches, where aquatic sports such as diving and jet-skiing are common practice.

Libya relies quite heavily on income from tourism, and as a result, close to Tripoli and close to the border with Eygpt, there are numerous projects in place to develop hotels and holiday accommodations, in an attempt to boost visitor numbers in the future.
